This boss encounter features 3 phases:
Phase 1
Gather up, have on designated ranged DPS shoot down the frost orbs above to form permafrost on the ground (especially near the area where the boss is being tanked, but peridoically through the raid is a good strategy as well). Nerubioan Burrower's will spawn and they stack an Expose Armor debuff on their tanks, up to 9 stacks which increases physical damage taken. The OT should pick these up, and bring them close to the boss while tanking them on top of the permafrost so they do not burrow and heal back to full HP. The DPS should stay on Anub'arak until he burrows, and then switch to the Nerubioan Burrower.
Phase 2
Anub'arak will burrow approximately every 90 seconds, starting phase 2. He will pursue a random raid member while casting spikes in his/her general direction. In order to avoid these, the raid member targeted should quickly move over a patch of permafrost or behind. If this is not done, that raid member targeted will be impaled and take a considerable amount of damage. After a few seconds, he will select another target. It is important for the selected ranged DPS from phase 1 to continue shooting down frost orbs (as each time a spike hits a permafrost patch, it will despawn). Also Swarm Scarabs will spawn rapidly during this phase, with each scarab starting out with considerable threat (around 20K) on a random raid member. The targeted raid member should kite them through the permafrosts in order to avoid the nature debuff they stack while the DPS concentrates on burning them down (they do not have a large health pool). Anub'arak will surface for 90 seconds again, and the fight will mirror that of phase 1 until Anub'arak reaches 30% hp. It is advicable to kill off any adds before Anub'arak reaches 30% hp.
[b]Phase 3:[b]
Anub'arak will not summon any more adds or submerge once he reaches under 30% hp, starting phase 3. The main special abiltity during this phase is leeching swarm, and Anub'arak will need to be downed quickly as this will cause considerable AoE damage (so saving all DPS increasing CDs is imperative for phase 3). To complicate matters, any healing done to raid members will be mirrored to Anub'arak, so it is not ideal to top raid members off as it will prolong phase 3. Instead, keeping raid members near 50% hp is advisable. The MT should be the only one topped off, and any raid members with penetrating cold will need some additional healing.
